Fiorenza Side Table
Fiorenza is simply stunning: a rectangular frame oftened by rounded corners and a light-as-straw, natural raffia linen covering. Three hand-woven solihiya cane shelves let light filter through, while providing ample, sturdy storage.
What To Expect
Cane rattan is typically harvested from rattan palms, which grow in tropical regions, and the appearance and texture can vary depending on the environment. For example, whether the season was more dry or wet than usual can impact its natural color, and the time of year it’s harvested can affect how it absorbs color. Some might even include small marks of darker shades, leaving each piece with a subtle sense of individuality. These types of variation are why we love utilizing natural materials for our designs; they offer each piece its own hint of character.
Raffia, made from raffia palm trees native to Madagascar and other tropical regions, is harvested by cutting the leaves from the raffia palm trees and then drying them in the sun. Once dry, the leaves are split and the fibers are stripped and sorted based on color, texture, and length. Raffia can vary depending on the amount of sun, humidity, rain, etc. in a season, so some slight differences in color and texture are expected from piece to piece. It can also yellow over time when exposed to excessive moisture, a delicate nod to the beauty of raffia’s evolution as it ages. Ultimately, these characteristics inspire us to design pieces that honor raffia’s natural origin and highlight these notes of individuality.
