The Aiko is made from peeled rattan with a knotted back detailing in an open crisscross design. Contrasting navy or white faux raffia make for lovely detailing. Enjoy a seat as refined as it is comfortable. Both rattan and raffia are naturally derived materials, meaning variations in aspects such as color, weaves, and patterns are to be expected per piece.
What To Expect
Rattan is typically harvested from rattan palms, which grow in tropical regions, and the appearance and texture can vary depending on the environment. For example, whether the season was more dry or wet than usual can impact its natural color, and the time of year it’s harvested can affect how it absorbs color. Some might even include small marks of darker shades, leaving each piece with a subtle sense of individuality. These types of variation are why we love utilizing natural materials for our designs; they offer each piece its own hint of character.
Our faux materials are just as precious as the natural materials in our selection because they allow us to bring a touch of organic-inspired elegance to pieces that require a higher level of durability. Faux rattan, with its carefully woven construction to mimic the craftsmanship and care of real rattan, can feature some color variation between fiber dye lots, with some pieces appearing slightly lighter or darker. Changes in light and environment can impact how the color is perceived as well. Additionally, you can expect some minor flaking over time, a characteristic that is inherent to the charm of this material.
